You do not need any prior experience or qualifications to join our teams. GLLaB will provide you with all the training you need to be confident in your new role. All you need to bring is empathy, adaptability, and a passion to empower others. If you have experience, that may mean you need to undergo a shorter training programme.

GLLaB have a range of contracts and shift patterns available and we will work with you to find the role that matches your preferences.

Am I safe to carry out care work in the community?

Don’t worry, your employer will ensure you have all the relevant training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based upon current guidelines before you start work. You will also have senior colleagues and managers who will support you to stay safe and well.

What is the role?

Care professionals earn the London Living Wage (£10.75) and work out in the community to provide care and support and help with everyday tasks in people’s own homes or in care homes. You will assist older and vulnerable adults with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting and medication, as well as supporting with tasks such as housework, meal preparation, laundry, and shopping.

You will develop relationships with colleagues and play a vital role in ensuring that the most vulnerable people in our communities are given the care and support they need during this challenging time.

What training will I receive?

GLLaB will provide training to give you the skills and confidence required to deliver person centred care in a safe and effective way. These topics include how to maintain fluid and nutrition, moving & handling, effective communication and ensuring privacy and dignity. GLLaB cover awareness of mental health, dementia, and learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as ensuring Carers are aware of their Duty of Care for safeguarding of adults. You’ll get training on the theory behind all of these before giving care and will then be supported by an experienced senior care assistant on your first visits, as well as with regular supervisions with your manager.
